Hello!

I have a 4790k with a h100i and i get ridiculous temps while in prime95. the cooler is installed correctly and i run it on 1.2 volts, but still. It idles around 36-38 c but shoots up to a 100 instantly when i start prime.

http://puu.sh/ipRux/ccf19a05ea.jpg screenshot.

The cpu even thermal throttles down to 3.6 ghz. i havent done any overclocking on it except for ram and gpu. ive read that prime doesnt go well with haswell but even when running cinabench R15 i get about 80c on the hottest cores.

Cheers!

Does not seem to bad. You may be able to adjust the fan profile for lower temperatures, but it will also be louder.

I have an H80i(with one AP15 and one NF P14. I have mixed fans to allow some extra air near my voltage regulators.) and most of the times high 50's to low 60s for games(over extended times). Sandy Bridge is a different die and connected to the heat spreader in a different manner so I can not directly compare(hell my coolest cpu may well be my first generation i5 750 in a SFF case and all that.).

Because I am testing Win 10, my case has the side panel off also making it hard to check out temps. My higher 50s low 60s are overclocked with the case closed. I am back at stock for the Win 10 test.

while playing witcher 3 the hottest core was 59 c while fighting some monsters. In arma 3 it usually stays in the low 60s.
