[SOLVED] Very little power to PC

So earlier I drove a good 60 miles twice to get PC parts. First time was in the morning, trip to microcenter and got components for a pc (specs listed below). After toying with it for a while it wouldnt turn on and did something weird and an orange glowing dot appeared and started smoking, fried the motherboard. Drove all the way back to the city, and replaced the motherboard and psu. Now, when I try and turn on the PC, the lights on the motherboard come on after flipping the osu switch and then the psu makes a single short buzz and that's it. No fans, nothing. Just lights on the motherboard.

Tested the ram in a different rig and worked just fine. Any ideas? This is really frustrating and if I have to drive another hour there and hour back I won't be too happy. Also replaced the PSU while I was there just to be safe.

Ryzen 5 2600
Ballistix 2x8gb 3200
PowerSpec 650w PSU
Gigabyte B450 Gaming X (Fried)
Asus Prime B450 Plus (Replacement)
Raedon RX 570 Red Dragon

Really frustrated, anything helps.

Did you follow the check list in the link? Did you properly position standoffs?

Who knows how far the short you had extended to. The cpu and gpu could have received a hit. Remove everything out of the case and breadboard the motherboard and troubleshoot.

Alright, so a wire was plugged into the psu and we smelled a burning smell. Is it possible the psu type is just cheap and crappy? We have replaced it once so it shouldn't have problems in theory.

What wire? I have no idea what you mean. Would be best for you to return everything to microcenter and have them build the system and replace other possible fried parts.

Definitely get a better psu. Units such as Corsair CXm, RM, HXi, Evga Supernova G2 or G3, Seasonic Focus /...

You matched standoffs to the screw holes underneath the motherboard?

Update, GPU lights turn on and case power led turns on with ONLY the 24 pin and CPU power connectors. No GPU power connectors or anything.

Pcie slot delivers 75w so that's enough to power some things like lights or fans.

So there's no signs of power if you connect the pcie cables to the graphics card?

Also never use random modular cables providing power from different psus, keep strictly to the original cables belonging to the psu. Reason being is that pinouts can vary and although the plug fits there's a high risk of routing power to the wrong pin and shorting the component(s).
