Very low 4k-64Thrd read speeds, Samsung 830

Greetings,

I recently purchased a Samsung 830 256GB drive to use as my boot disk. It seems to be performing ok but benchmarking with AS SSD Benchmark has shown problems. Basically my 4K-64Thrd read speeds are only ~25MB/s when most people with this drive are reporting 10x that number. Here's a screenshot

Anyone seen this issue before?

Thanks for any help.

Is your motherboard SATA 2 or SATA 3 compatible?. I found out AFTER I installed the same SSD drive that my Rampage Extreme II is only SATA 2 so although the SSD works it is not as fast is it could be. Still faster then my old Raptor HDD for windows boot up and stuff though.

I've considered this, do you know a way to change to msahci that will save me having to re-install windows? I've tried it without Avast and it didn't make a difference.

My system:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Samsung 830 SSD 256GB MZ-7PC256B (boot disk)
Crucial M4 SSD 128GB CT128M4SSD2 (secondary app disk)
2x Hitachi Deskstar 2TB 5K3000 (raid 0 media storage)
AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1100T Processor (overclocked to 3.9)
16 GB RAM G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series (2GBx8) DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6950 2GB 100312-3SR
MSI Radeon HD 6950 2GB R6950-2PM2D2GD5
Cooler Master HAF 932 Full Tower case
2x ASUS SATA 24X DVD Burner
COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Gold 1200W ATX 12V v2.3
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card

I see plenty of benchmarks of people using the same driver as I am, with 4K-64Thrd speeds 10x what I'm seeing, so I know that's not the problem. I'm still looking for a solution

I tested a crucial M4 and it also was very slow in the 4K-64Thrd speeds, same as the samsung drive. At this point I'm thinking it's something to do with my motherboard. I'm going to install windows on a spare ssd in ahci mode instead of raid and see if that changes it. If not I guess I may have a bad MB.

Update:

I unplugged all drives except the crucial M4, then set my SATA configuration to AHCI. I then did a full wipe and installed/updated windows. Then I ran the AS SSD benchmark on it. Lo and behold, the 4K-64Thrd speeds looked fine. It seems my motherboard will have low 4K-64Thrd speeds as long as the sata configuration is set to RAID. I don't know if this by design or a problem with my board.

Anyone want to help me out? I need someone using a CH4F with sata in raid configuration and a non-raid ssd to run the AS SSD benchmark and post results. I will love you forever
