Very low framerates in games recently?

I have been playing some games that I used to play awhile ago and noticed something really bad, I have been getting very bad framerates. For example, for Black Ops 2 I used to get 100+ frames constantly, now I get -50. 50 is on a good day, normally it has been like 30-40. Generally it's unplayable for a fast paced game.

I have no clue what went wrong, just a couple weeks ago it was perfectly fine. All of my settings are on low, I am on the most current graphics driver, and I have verified the integrity of my game cache. Nothing as far as settings is wrong.

So what is wrong? Has anyone else been having this issue? Should I uninstall and reintsall my games? I know for sure it has nothing to do with my computer because it used to be perfectly fine.

Maybe you changed the settings to higher detail or you went to a higher monitor resolution.

If you post your build and game settings we might be able to help.

fps change a lot in BF4 depending on which scenario you're playing. Especially with low end pc's

Have you looked for answers on the bf4 forums?

first off, check if the heatsink is dirty, 2nd try using an older driver. new driver does not always mean better performance, sometimes they break things, happened to me a few times back in bf3

As for the game settings, I have been playing everything on lowest possible and the resolution stays at 1920x1080.

Its a low end pc. So it gets a big variation in fps as I said.

I'm playing COD, and it used to be no problem. Did you even read my post fully?

I can't check if the heatsink is dirty because, once again, I'm on a laptop. I will try again to go to an even later driver.

Monitoring my temperatures would really do nothing for me because the only extra cooling options I have is an external fan.

well, the goal is actually to see if high temps are causing things to throttle
