Hello,

I have extremely low IOPS with my SSD Samsung 840 pro 128Gb -->

Random read (IOPS) = +- 22000
Random write (IOPS) = +- 4700 (yes, only 4700!!)

Sequential read (MB/s) = 280
Sequential write(MB/s) = 185 (I don´t know if these are ok for my desktop)

My cousin (the expert and who convinced me of buying the SSD) and I have been trying to solve it, we read lots of posts but none works... for example this one looked very good but also didn´t work http://www.computing.net/howtos/show/solid-state-drive-ssd-tweaks-for-windows-7/552.html (only steps with REGEDIT I couldn´t do because with Windows 8 are not the same paths - so steps 8 and 11 I didn´t do)

I´ll explain a bit how it happened: We got the SSD and directly installed Windows 8, it was working great but after 2 or 3 days (5 game plays) the efficiency of the SSD drop incredibly, then my cousin noticed that the BIOS was not set to AHCI, so we did it and reinstalled Windows 8, but from then on, no matter what we did the IOPS where not going better... actually with this last benchmark I got random read = 22000 but before was always around 8000, I have done so many things that I don´t know what improved this, I am getting a bit :pt1cable:

My computer is quite old, is a Dell Inspiron 1520, 2 GB, Intel Core 2 Duo...

As I said, at first it was working good (I suppose maximum of my computer´s performance) but now there is no way to make it work better, so I think SSD is fine...

Please some help for a :??:
Thank you!!

Solution
1) Your computer may have the SATAII ports only, not the SATAIII. So your benchmark will not br as good as the SSD in SATAIII port. 280MB/s in read and 185 MB/s in write is normal for the SSD in the SATAII.
2) If you don't Disable Prefetch and Superfetch -Step 8 then the junk files will build up to the SSD, you don't want to those files fii up your SSD, if you fill up the SSD then the performances will go south. Check your SSD to see how much free space is available.
3) You also need the " CCleaner " to clean up your SSD too. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
4) I recommend you do the tweak ssd again and following this ...

Solution
Alright guys, my cousin solved it out, it was that the "Write Cache Buffer" was deactivated... you can change this option at the Samsung magician - OS optimization - Advanced

Actual benchmark

--- Random read (IOPS) = +- 22000
--- Random write (IOPS) = +- 20000

--- Sequential read (MB/s) = 280
--- Sequential write(MB/s) = 254

Thank you for the support!!
