Im getting very random reboots after upgrading my system. Right after I upgraded I did a fresh install with no problems. Installed drivers with no problems (all drivers where the same other than mobo dirvers). Then I installed my games with no problems. Doom3 started playing fine but after 10 or 20 min my system just rebooted. No BSOD and nothing in Event viewer and no error msg. At first I thought my GFX card might be going bad but then once while I was surfing the net I rebooted, and once while I was running a virus scan. It seems to reboot a lot more often when my system is working hard. But some times I can play doom3 for hours and hours with no problems. I have run memtest86 with no problems (sense this is the only diag I know how to run).
My system does not get to hot. The CPU temp maxes out at 47C when playing a game. Also when the system reboots the case and PSU never stop spinning.
HERE are the specs ----
PSU: Channel Well Tech; CWT-375ATX12; 375W Max;
+3.3 - 28A
+5 -35A
+12 - 17A
-12 – 1.0A
-5 – 1.0A
+5SB – 3.0A
Peak output - 200W
I had:
AMD 2600+ (running at 1800+ FSB100)
Gigabyte 7DXR (does not support FSB133; and only AGP 2X)
ATI 9700PRO
SB LIVE 5.1 PCI
2x 256 PC 2100 ECC
2x 7200rmp 20GB PATA HDD’s
DVD-ROM
DVD-RW
X4 case fans /w fan controller
I added:
Chaintech "SKT600" KT600 (CPU rans normal now.)
7200rmp 80GB SATA HDD
In thinking it was the PSU, so I unplugged both DVD drives and a HDD. And with 3 less drives it still reboots. I have also checked for loose connections and all the cables are in good. Everything checks out in device manager. And im not overclocking anything.
So my question is what could be the cause of this? What is most likely causing this. And how can I test to be sure. Also are there any programs that can monitor my power supply or usage and a can make sure that’s not it. If its not the PSU im going to send my mobo back to newegg and get a new one.
Any advice or links to some kinda test I can run on my system would be great.
