Very Slow boot, possible memory or motherboard issue?

Recently my computer crashed with a BSOD and afterward it's been booting up real slow. After the system boots back into Windows Vista x64 bit everything runs like normal. This happens during a cold boot or a regular reboot.

Once I power on the computer it hangs on the 'memory' screen where you hit 'DEL' to enter BIOS. It stays there for a few minutes before resuming the boot process. This leads me to believe it might be bad memory. I've try updating the BIOS, resetting the CMOS settings to default, booting with 1 stick of memory and the problem persist. I also noticed that when I went into the BIOS and under "DDR18V" it had failed once. After many reboot the failed message is no longer there. Any input on what I can do? I ordered a new 4gb Corsair PC 6400 DDR 2 memory and it should be arriving by tomorrow.

The first thing to do is disconnect external devices - Unrecognised USB devices can cause a long hang on startup. For example, leaving the USB connector for the cellphone I got a couple weeks ago (LG Dare) causes a LONG startup. Unplugging it fixes the problem. (Interestingly, this works perfectly well if I plug it in while the computer is already running...)

Since you indicate the computer was fine then suddenly started misbehaving, I would be inclined to check devices for a failure.

Might be a mobo issue... my -5q deluxe boots in OVER A MINUTE with a SSD HDD.... over a minute with an SSD.... not cool whatsoever... But... a good 50 seconds of that is the motherboard post so w/e lol

Yup, it might be a mobo issue. I received some brand new sticks of memory and still the same problem. I thought if there was a problem with the motherboard it will not even post. In this case it just takes forever to boot but after booting into Windows it's smooth, fast and normal.

Any other inputs? Or recommendations on a new motherboard with my setup? I kinda want to lean away from another Gigabyte board. Any good Abits or Asus boards that overclocks well?
