Motherboard : MSI B550 GAMING PLUS

OS : Dual boot Windows / Pop OS (same problem on both)

Hello everyone,

I'm posting this because since yesterday, I've had a very strange problem on my PC, especially with my GPU.

It all started when I put the PC on standby for dinner, when I returned I took the PC out of sleep, however no picture appeared on my DisplayPort screen.

So I restarted several times, but still nothing...

Then I changed the DisplayPort on the GPU to the other 2 DisplayPorts, but still nothing...

I figured I could try using the HDMI port (hallelujah, it works), so I figured the problem is with the
DisplayPort on the GPU (or the chip that handles that to be more precise).

So I wanted to do the test and I restarted the PC, and there was nothing for 20 seconds, I waited all this time (while normally the MSI icon appears after only 3-4 seconds) but no BIOS screen, only the Windows display which appears after a long delay. Logically the problem is not due to the Windows driver because of this behaviour.

I'm going to do a test with another screen (however the only screen I have at home at the moment is the one I use).

I would like to know if you know where this problem could come from ?

Thanks for your help.

if it happens in two OS, its not likely to be drivers either.

you could try this but its unlikely to be cause, as it randomly started... meaning its probably hardware. Not software
You might already have that, it was just a thought.

I tried to do a CMOS clear, plug the graphics card into another PCI port, update the UEFI firmware of the GPU and the motherboard bios but nothing works... Unfortunately I have no another display with a DisplayPort. Where do you think this could come from?

Thanks for your help.

it could be a fault in the card itself. things do tend to just stop working. it seems odd all 3 Display port connections stop at once... but they would be controlled by same part on GPU so maybe not so strange.

Or I guess it could be monitor as well. Since you can't test it.

Or it could be the cable? try another cable? cheapest fix.

I don't like guessing. You could get PC looked at by a shop, very least they have a monitor you can test it on. Or ask a friend to use theirs.

Thanks Colif, I will try to check all the possibilities.

EDIT : After a test with another monitor (HDMI) I am now almost sure that the problem comes from my monitor... On the other monitor that I tested, I no longer have this problem of the screen flashing and display which appears after almost 30 seconds after boot (also HDMI and on the 2 HDMI ports of my monitor, because as I said the DisplayPort does not work at all).
