Whenever I try to raise my monitor from 60hz to anything higher, everything becomes choppy and very hard to read, then the Monitor will display a message that reads "Incorrect Cable. Please use a Dual Link DVI-D cable." This is the cable I am using now, I have checked the pins and checked the GPU to assure that it is in the correct slot. Is it possible I have yet another defective DVI-D cable or is there another fix to this? I also updated the Monitor's drivers today and restarted the PC with it at 120hz.

Here is the choppiness I am talking about, the first picture is 60hz and the second is anything above 60hz:

At the 144Hz range HDMI and DVI-D cables lack the bandwidth to run above 120Hz and lower if you have a longer cable. A Display Port 1.2 cable will get you up to the 144Hz range but do not use cable >10Ft as the line attenuation will cause monitor sync issues.

I had a problem with my AUSU ROG SWIFT (1440/144Hz/GSync) monitor using a 15Ft DP 1.2 Cable, switched to the 6ft cable provided with the monitor and no problems.

The cable is 6FT so I figured I'd be able to reach 120hz, but anything about 60 is screwy, even 85hz. I have an HDMI cable, I've used it for the past 6 months on this monitor and it runs 60hz very well.

I guess I'll need to look into a nice Display Port cable, figure out if my GPU supports it first. Thanks!

Sounds like they sent you either a single link cable or a defective one. Its also possible the dvi port on the monitor or video card has issues.

Alright, thank you a lot. I'll look into a Display Port cable and inform myself on that.

I've looked them up before and am confused. Which one is usable on my monitor and a R9 280x GPU? There seems to be Display Port Male-Male, Display Port -VGA, to DVI... all this so I'm a bit confused.
