Question VGA cable problem

I had been using an HDMI to VGA adapter for my computer and monitor and it always would turn tinted blue. then one day out of the blue, it stopped working. I tried swapping the cable sides but it still did not work. which one do you think is broken the adapter or VGA cable?

Option 3 is that it could be your monitor or GPU. Your best bet would be to try that monitor on a different PC using the same adapter. That would at least rule out your GPU being bad. After that, you can try replacing the adapter or the cable. VGA monitors are pretty old at this point so it wouldn't be surprising if that monitor is on its way out.
