[SOLVED] Vga cables

Hi all
I'm am completely new to pc's I know enough to get by
At work I have a hp all in pc to make my life easier I brought a tv as bigger screen had it connected from the old pc via a vga cable
Now I have this all in one and the vga ports are different
I've tried to connect via hdmi lead but nothing comes

The port on the pc is 9 pins
And the tv is 15 pins to be inserted

I've been looking online and so far have ordered the wrong lead twice

Can anyone help me please

The 9-pin port is RS-232 (serial), not a VGA port. It isn't a video output.

Its a hp pro one 400 g6 20
All in one pc


If a 9 pin is serial
And not video

Is there any other way I connect to a screen

There is a DisplayPort output next to the USB ports. You can use a DisplayPort to VGA adapter.

Most products come with a tiny guy called Manuel that tell you info about the item https://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c06640086

That shows the HDMI you tried at first is an INPUT so you can use the computer screen with another computer as a monitor. That's not that common in systems like that.

You have a pretty poor IT staff if they could not help you with the monitor in this case. Many new products don't even have an actual paper manual included, just a quick guide. To get the full manual need to go online to find it.
