VGA input to HDMI output : possible?

Hi. I have a desktop computer which doesn't have an HDMI port. I have a Samsung SmartTV which accepts HDMI input. I purchased a converter cable that had a VGA male on one and an HDMI male on the other end. I connected the cable from the VGA output (monitor) port of my computer to the HDMI input of the TV. I hoped it'll work but it didn't. Can you please tell me of a way to connect my PC to the TV in this condition? (I don't need audio, only video will do).

Hi. Thank you so much for that suggestion. I just gave it a try and it worked! I bought a Mini VGA2HDMI convertor on eBay, that had the exact provisions as I wanted: VGA IN, HDMI OUT. It also works with audio. Thanks once again. I can finally plug in my PC to my TV and enjoy games in Full HD
