VGA Monitor, DVI-D (24+1) Graphics Card. What kind of adapter do I need?

Solution
Passive adapters are those free ones included with most older cards that use the extra 4 pins that the new cards lack(DVI-I vs DVI-D). At that point the video card still output analog AND digital video over DVI-I(new cards have DVI-D).

Active adapters have a chip that converts the digital signal to analog(since the video card no longer has this ability). This is required with the latest generation of video cards.

These types of adapters are also required to covert digital only outputs like HDMI to analog VGA.

I have a 1050 TI. What do you mean by an Active Adapter vs. a Passive one? Could you show some examples?
