Vga monitor to hdmi gpu or native hdmi for better quality?

I have and old vga 1080p monitor and a gpu that supports dp 1.2 and hdmi 1.4.If i buy an adapter for vga to hdmi will the signal in the monitor look decent or should i take new monitor?

I have windows 10 r9 280 ssd 250gb i5 6600k 16gb ddr4 ram currenty i dont have the money for new monitor but i will in couple monrths

There will be no problem when you connect your GPU with your current monitor with an adaptor. I think new monitor is not needed until you plan to play FPS games on it.
