I just connected my GPU to the monitor via VGA cable. I used a DVI-to-VGA adapter on my GPU, since HDMI is the only connector my monitor and GPU have in common. The HDMI connector on my monitor doesn't work though, so i had to connect via VGA. I just powered it on, everything works, but my monitor doesn't allow me to change to 1080p. The max resolution it's showing is 1600x1200, which really doesn't look good on my monitor. Any suggestions on how to enable 1080p ? My GPU is R7 370 Powercolor PCS+ and my monitor is Samsung S24C300HL.

Start by ensuring the display is using 60 Hz. What OS are you using? For Win 10 press the Windows Key + I to open Settings. In Search type Control Panel. In the Control Panel choose Display. Next Choose Adjust Resolution. Now click Advanced Settings. In the window that appears click the Monitor tab near the top and check the Screen Refresh Rate setting. Your monitor will only display 1080p at 60 Hz according to the manual:

Did you try changing the input? If it doesn't work, then it's crappy situation. Maybe something is wrong with the adapter? You might just need to buy a new monitor...

VGA is capable.

I would not recommend doing that as it could potentially damage the monitor.

I never said VGA was not capable of 1080p, one of my monitors is 1080p on VGA. I said HIS display was not 1080p capable on VGA.

I have a TV Tuner connected to the Monitor as well via VGA, and it supports 1080p 60Hz no problem. I don't know whats wrong with my monitor,i guess i'll just settle in with 1600x1200. Thanks anyway,i appreciate the help. If you have any other suggestion, i'm here to listen.

VGA is capable of more than 1080p but all depends on the receiver inside the monitor, obviously its not very good so forget it.

Edit yea i missed the TV Tuner comment, sorry.

Windows might show your resolution/Hz if show hidden.
