Hello All,

I just got a second monitor that only has a DVI and VGA port. I already had a VGA to HDMI converter (j5create VGA to HDMI Video adapter) that I use to display my older Thinkpad on TV so I know the adapter works. Well now that I am trying to use it as a second monitor it is giving me a no cable connected error when I plug the HDMI from my PC to the adapter to the monitor. Its an Acer k242hl monitor. Also I have another monitor that has an HDMI port that I used to test my HDMI port on my GPU and there is no problem there.

Before anyone asks, all MOBO and GPU drivers are up to date. I am only using my GPU to connect monitors. My main monitor is using a display port on my GPU and the HDMI port is also confirmed to be working, as well as the adapter.

Please any advice would be very helpful.

Thank you,
Casio

HDMI to VGA is not the same as VGA to HDMI. You can't use the same adapter and reverse the inputs and outputs. Unless you are not explaining the setup properly, from the post it sounds like you are going from VGA on the computer to HDMI on the TV, and want to use it to connect HDMI on the computer to VGA on the monitor. You need a different adapter. Or better idea it to forget buying adapters and just get a monitor with HDMI, used monitors are cheap.
