VGA to mobo? or GPU?

I have a VGA monitor( 1280 x 1024) and want to use it on my new gaming build, but my gpu doesnt have a vga connection . My mobo does, at this resolutioon will it make much of a difference if i use my motherboard instead of plugging into gpu with adapter?

I know i can but its 10$ more. will there really be any performance or visual quality decrease?
