Question VGA to type-c - low resolution until I unplug - replug

Im scratching my head trying to figure out why My PC has a resolution issue.
I start the PC, and it starts off with 1280 X 1024 (the desired resolution), but once the bios does its thing, eventually the screen goes black and comes back quickly as 1024 x 768.
Im using VGA -> type c for the display.
After I boot up and login, if I unplug and replug the type-c video connection, I'm then able to use 1280 x 1024.

Where should I put my efforts into figuring out the cause? Drivers? BIOS (which is UEFI)? Hardware?

Set the proper resolution in windows and restart the pc

Might be an adapter/monitor problem

Update the BIOS of your pc

Try a different USB port
