[SOLVED] VGA to VGA or DP to DVI?

Picked up an older computer (Win 8.1 HD 4600) with VGA and DP and an older 20" 1600 x 900 LCD monitor with VGA and DVI. Want to watch youtube or stream news in the kitchen while I cook, maybe look at some recipes. Does it really make a difference if I use VGA to VGA cable ( I already have one of these) or is it worth picking up a DP to DVI cable?

Also, I will need to pick up a receiver to get the signal in my kitchen. These adapters run anywhere from $7 to $65 at Amazon - can I get by with a cheap one? The "star" ratings and reviews seem similar regardless of price.

DP to DVI is a pure digital signal. So image quality will be slightly cleaner and sharper.

For watching youtube in kitchen you wouldn't really see any difference. VGA cable is fine.
