So I bought a new desktop + monitor recently and the problem I'm having now is that I can only connect the VGA to my desktop. Whenever I try to use HDMI it doesn't detect it. My motherboard is B85-Pro Gamer and my video card is Nvidia 970. Can anyone help me? If not I'll try manually updating my BIOS myself.

Oh and can anyone also answer this question; for example my bios is version 1 can i directly update it to version 3 first or do I have to go through version 2 then 3?

Solution
when you say VGA, are you meaning the VGA port that is on the motherboard, or the one that is on the video card?

If you meant the one on the motherboard and not your new NVIDIA video card, then you need to go into the bios and change the setting in the BIOS/UEFI to use the PCIx slot for video and not the onboard video.
Make sure that your monitor is set to HDMI using any buttons available on your monitor.

BIOS updates take you from old updates to the newest one, and you can skip any that are inbetween.
However, just check to make sure that there aren't any Intel Managment Driver updates that your motherboard requires. and ensure that you follow their directions.

Yeah I made sure of that, just installed Intel management drivers and still no luck. Any more ideas you can think of? 🙁

Just updated my BIOS, still isn't working
