VIA fights back!

I just received a message from support@via.com.tw, it contained the Netsky virus. This proves:

1.) VIA's support department really DOES exist
2.) They have nothing better to do than send virii to their critics.

I sent it back, I said "thanks, but I think you have the wrong address".

What a cheap gift! Not even a good virus at that!

Should I send them a note that says "Your virus is weak, like your chipsets"?

Tell them that their chipsets are better at crashing a pc than the virus they sent you.

Dear Sirs:

I couldn't open the document you sent me from my work computer because our network doesn't allow opening attachments. I decided to wait and open it at home, however, I couldn't start my OS, got a message about missing files (hard drive on VIA chipset controller). I'll have to wait until I finish my SiS based system to view it. If the message was urgent, please mail me a hard copy, because my VIA based system is too unreliable to check my email.

I am betting it is a christmas present. Someone hacked into via's server, and planted that virus. I'm guessing they also planted crashes e-mail address, to let him know about it.

That wouldn't have happened if they were using nVidia's hardware firewall!

Isn't Netsky one of those worm viruses that spoofs email?

...looking at McAfee's information the virus plants it's own mail application. It can send mail all on it's own (no mail servers needed) and it spoofs the return address. Takes one address from the address book for the spoof and sends the message to another address in the address book. The identity of sender is never known.

You could have received that mail from anyone who has "support@via.com.tw" in their address book.

I knew about spoofing but didn't mention it because it would have taken the humor out of this

Huh, what? Somebody has support@via.com.tw in their address book? Why would they do that?

Sorry, I thought you were just amused by the email and were conveying it to the forum.

I didn't realize you were also being sarcastic. LOL! Now I get it.

Merry Christmas, Crash.

Only if you like hearing "It's not our fault, contact the hardware vender" over and over again.
