I have my computer in my room. Some nights I stay up while my wife sleeps and use it. I recently built my system and ran into an issue when I plug in headphones while hooking display and audio up to my HDTV (all I really have right now to hook it up to)

It works fine until I plug headphones in. Then the audio stops. Over the headphones it works but once theyre unplugged no sound. I have to uninstall the driver/software for the sound to work again... which has been fine up till now. I've just kept the volume low at night.

but I miss the music at night. I miss the sound from games.

I just received my mechanical keyboard and it has audio and microphone jacks and I'd very much like to be able to utilize them but they do not work while the software/driver is installed....

Anything I can do? Please help. I am at a loss.

Solution
all you need to do is right click on the sound icon in your system tray (the speaker) and select playback devices then select your hdmi audio and select default to make it the currently active sound output.

when you dissconect the hdmi then it should go back t your onboard audio.
