Can a powered down (not in use) external hard drive can be damage by a vibration?

How sensitive is external hard drive to vibration?

Vibration is bad for any device with moving parts, not only HDD.

But you should not be too concerned about it when your HDD is not running.

It depends on how strong the vibration is, but I think it's safe to say if a hard drive can survive a trip on a semi-truck and the manhandling of couriers, it should be fine.
