Video and Audio signals shut off and power button not working

Hi, trying to help my roommate with his problem. Computer was working fine then all of a sudden the video switched off and said no signal, audio cut out and while all the case lights,fans, hard disks ect were still on. Tried hitting the power button to restart the machine and nothing happend the power button had gone dead. After pulling the plug to get it to turn off we plugged it back in and everything worked fine again. Now a few days later its done this a few times. Trying to figure out what would be causing this

Possibly bad psu, first thing to test, then go from their and test ram, cpu, mobo, etc. I've had similar issues when waking from hibernating but not just randomly.

Also, check it's not overheating. This can cause sporadic issues with regards to instability. You should be able to view the cpu temps from the bios. Let the pc run in windows for a little while though, just started to build a more accurate reflection of the temperature.
