I'm running Windows 7 Pro (64) SP1. My graphics card is a Radeon HD 4850. I'm running the i7 X990 CPU on an MSI Big Bang XPower Mobo with 24G of RAM.
Recently, my computer started shutting down suddenly. No BSOD nothing. I thought it might be my PS but after removing all the HW except the C drive it still shuts down without notice. The one common factor here seems to happen when I'm cycling through pictures on a web site or if I have all the MS office apps open it shuts down suddenly. I recently upgraded the memory (not to fix the issue) but that didn't help.
Now, some time back I noticed that in certain areas on my screen when I was using Firefox some characters didn't seem to look right..kinda fuzzy like the video rendering wasn't quite working well.
I've exhausted nearly all my knowledge trying to understand what's causing this. Hard to determine when I don't even get a BOSD....it just shuts off and restarts.
When I removed all but the necessary hardware I was able to get the PC to shut down by opening Firefox, IE, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint...then I found a site in Firefox that had lots of pictures and started clicking away on those...it failed every time.
So, I keep thinking it's the video card as a result. I can't remember when this started but it was recent (within the last month) but lately it's been getting worse.
Suggestions?
