So my father got a computer from costco for the new family computer a while back a HP Pavilion it has decent enough specs for gaming besides having no video card. I was thinking of going with http:// do to it says you need at least a 300w Power supply, but would a 300w psu really work i tend to think the words at least is usually not enough.

Processor: AMD A8-5500 (3.2ghz)

Motherboard: MSI 2AE0

Memory: Single 8gb stick

Power Supply: 300w

Any thoughts/advice would be great

HP uses good quality PSUs in their PCs. It should be fine with the card I mentioned above... if the card is able to be recognized. I'd check with the folks on the HP forum and ask around what the success rate has been with the GTX 750/750 Ti.
You might have better luck with compatibility using this card instead. It is suppose to have a BIOS switch on it to allow it to work in older legacy BIOS PCs like yours: http://us.msi.com/product/vga/N750Ti2GD5OC.html#hero-overview

Although there was a poster awhile back that said that the EVGA GTX 750 Ti 2GB card worked on his HP. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2216642/msi-gtx-750-2gb-feature-hybrid-bios.html

Yes, the GTX 750 Ti will work well with a good quality 300W PSU. The only issue you may have is the HP recognizing the card. There's a slight chance that it won't because HP has been know to 'lock' their BIOS to prevent users from upgrading to cards that HP doesn't sell or recommend.

Idk about the quality of the PSU, its pretty generic not a name brand or anything...it came stock with the pc.
