HI,

I wondering what my best gaming video card options are within $75-$130.00
price range for a vostro 260 minitower?

Would the HD 6770 fit? Or other ideas.

Intel® Core™i5-2400

Dell told me it has just 1 PCI available.

Owners manual shows:

PCI Express x16 graphics card
AMD Radeon HD 6450 1GB DDR3 (DVI, VGA, HDMI)
AMD Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 (DVI, VGA, HDMI)
AMD Radeon HD 6670 1GB DDR3 (DVI, VGA, HDMI)

PCI Express
PCI Express x1-slot (includes mini PCI-Express) support speed – 500 Mbps (Gen 2)
PCI Express x16-slot support speed – 8 Gbps (Gen 2)
SATA 1.5/3.0/6.0 Gbps
eSATA 3.0 Gbps
USB 480 Mbps

Cards

PCIe x16 one full-height card
PCIe x1 up to three full-height cards

Any better video cards for gaming ? The list above appears limited?

I am not too tech savy.

Suggestions appreciated.

Dennis

P.S. I am planning on upgrading to a 500-500 watt power supply too.

Thanks for you reply and suggestions. The 6850 sound like a good option.

As noted in my PS I plant to get a 500-600 PSU

I ask which cards I can choose from? Because I am not sure what slot and other space
restrictions would apply to the 260 mini tower.

I have the impression I need a 6 pin that goes into the PCI slot correct?

Yes i think that one 6-pin was required, but don't worry, 99% of the PSU's have it, especially if you're going to buy Corsair/CM Silent Pro/Seasonic and other quality brands, they have more than one 6-pin connector.

Also, I forgot to mention, I have already ordered the Vostro 260 with intentions of a few modifications
such as the power supply and adding a video card etc. As to your question, my current resolution used is
1152 x 864. However, this may change in the near future as well.

I just wanted anyone reading my post to know that I am not asking questions about a system I might buy. Rather, I have already ordered it and now I have to make some decisions about a video card.

Well, i thought you already have it :D Nevermind.
Now for that resolution the 6850 is overkill, but since you mention you're going to change the monitor in the near future, go with the 6850.
With that CPU and the 6850, no game will be a problem @ 1080p and high settings, with some AA/AF on (except BF3 and Crysis that is), not to mention your current resolution.

Thanks! You are really helping me here with several subjects.

"D Nevermind" Well it's paid for and on it's way, that's ownership :) I just can't touch it quite yet.

This computer is a big step up for me, since I am currently (sad but true) using an old Dell Dimension
4550 2.3 MHZ. with an old and weak video card.
