The 2400HD really doesn't have any power. Get a AGP 2600 Pro, alhtough people have said they have had issues and driver problems. If you must upgrade get a really cheap 7600GS or GT

Hey Andyv3. This is a period. (.) And yes the 2400 is weak. I'd get the BEST AGP card you can afford and add 50$. Reasoning is I'm sure your CPU on the mobo is getting old and to extend the life of that system you need all the GPU you can afford. Or you might hit the CPU bottleneck and no matter what GPU you get your gonna have slow WOW FPS.

Excellent point. If he has DSL or better, he's fine.

Ohhh Zenmaster (LOL) Did you ask what his screen res is? If he's at 1900+ he NEEDS 512 meg.

You need full system specs and his requirements and CPU/GPU/PS/case air flow etc etc before such a broad uninformed statement is posted.

Nice Dell BTW....................... Get a Xbox, Delete TH from your favs.....

What are the rest of your specs? You see WoW is not really a graphically intense game. However there are many factors that go into what type of performance you'll get in that game specifically. You pretty much need 1GB of RAM a decent dual core CPU and a good internet connection (cable or better) before considering whether or not a GPU will get you better then 40fps. If you're using AGP I'm inclined to guess that the rest of your system might not be up to par.

Actually, I don't need any of that info.

#1) World of Warcraft does not use highly detailed graphics. As a result, even when the game is set to full detail graphics and set to a high resolution such as 1900+, it will not need more than 256Mb of RAM.

#2) Lower End cards such as he is looking at do not have the computational power to fully utilize 512mb even if the games could make use of it. However, the speed of DDR2 vs DDR3 memory will cause a significant drop in performance which will cause the 512mb DDR2 cards to performa slower than DDR3 cards.

Please explain how CPU/Power Supply/Airflow would allow a given GPU with 512mb DDR2 outperform a 256mb DDR3 card. Please be sure to use link a card from NewEgg in your discussion so we can all see the specs and analyze your argument.

Please be sure to include all relevent data already provided by the poster.

Stop being an ass.

andyv3, look for a GDDR3 version of any of the following: 7600(GS or GT), X1650XT (not PRO), or HD2600(PRO or XT). Unless you have a huge monitor (bigger than 24") you won't need more than 256MB of VRAM.

256MB GDDR3 > 512MB GDDR2

In WoW it could make all the difference if the DDR2 card was $25 cheaper which allowed him to up his RAM. If he's running a TI 2 (Which I think he means the Geforce 3) then he probably doesn't have the 1 Gig to run WoW decently.

My biggest upgrade for that game came when I jumped from 512 to 1 gig... hands down.
