I have an ASUS P8Z77-M PRO and wonder how to go about knowing which video card to put in with an i3 Pentium processor. Which bus speed, type of memory, etc.

i3 and Pentium are two completely different processors, which one and which model do you have? Which one do you have. Your mobo will support even the highest end GPU's. Also, state your budget for the GPU.
Lastly, are you sure that is the right combo you are stating? That mobo is way too expensive for an i3 or a pentium processor.

Yes the mother board is correct and processor is i3-3220. Sorry for the confusion. I made sure that when I bought this motherboard I wouldn't have to replace it for a while and know that I have a lower end processor for it. I really would like to stay below $100 for the GPU.

An entry level GPU is of no use especially if you want to play some recent games in decent settings, however because of your CPU you can go for lower-Mid level GPU's. If you put some 5 bucks extra into your budget, HD 7770 is a decent buy.
