Computer will randomly shut off. Radeon hd 6870 running super hot 105 c. Gpu temp reading. It's only during certain games, secret world, civ 5 and Starcraft. Runs wow, hearthstone and various steam games at about 90. The fans are running and it's even this hot with the side panel off. Just recently started doing this the past month, cleaned out dust stopped for awhile. Card isn't new, about 2 years old first time having problems.

1. Carefully remove parts and note order for reassembly
2. Clean GPU and Heatsink, possibly memory chips etc as applicable (Isopropyl Alcohol)
3. Ensure no threads/dirt on chips
4. Spread paste with credit card or similar and use the MINIMUM to coat the surface evenly
5. Reassemble
6. Wait to dry (if needed; see instructions on the Thermal Paste)
7. Install and Test
Woah! 105 C, you know 100 C is the boiling point anyways make sure you have a good case that has good airflow for example 1 120mm fan in the front to bring in cool air, 1 140mm fan on top to exhaust out hot air that rises to the top and 1 120mm in the back to exhaust out hot air. If you have a nice case with good airflow thats good also check to see if theirs any dust in the heatsink of your GPU and if there is clean it off with a paintbrush or something. Lastly make sure its not overclocked because overclocking causes heat issues which lead it to glitching out and showing up on your monitor as blank. I'm currently using my HD 6770 with the stock heatsink and my memory clock is from 1100MHz to 1200MHz GDDR5 and my core clock went from 800MHz to 900MHz, when I put my memory clock to 1230MHz it would crash so I lowered it and now its not crashing also my case is helping the NZXT Phantom 410

Thanks a lot. Is it a good chance that it just needs that or is the card just dying?
