Video card shuts down

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice i am a novice at home built systems.


to the point my sons computer shutdown completely i checked the power supply and it was dead no prob so went and got a thermaltake 430 watt ps which is way better than the stock ps.

After plugging everything back in the computer would not boot so i just unplugged the the connector to the video card and the computer booted with no problem its an older ati agp video card.

If anyone has any clues or ideas i will be greatly appreciate it.

What are the specifications of the computer, and what video card is it?

Try:

unplug power cord
remove battery from mobo
short CLR pins for 10 mins
put battery back
plug power cord in

Now ive noticed that when the video card is not plugged in only through the mobo the fans on it run but as soon as the i put the connector directly on it its shuts down the whole system.
