Video card sparked (MSI GTX 780 TwinFrozr Gaming 3GB OC Edition)

My graphic card (MSI GTX 780 TwinFrozr Gaming 3GB OC Edition) shut down 2 days ago before giving off a spark but it is working fine after rebooting, will there be any problems? it has been fine for 2 days already.

Were you overclocking/increasing the voltage of the card past stock settings? Do you know if you power supply is enough to adequately supply the graphics card? I would also check all the power supply connections with the card. As for whether you should continue using I'm not entirely sure.

I have a Cosair 750w PSU and i've never overclocked my graphic card before.

I recommend not pouring water on your gpu next time, that is not proper cooling. 😛
Just kidding. I would call MSI and ask them. If they back their product anything like EVGA does then they will be inclined to help you solve the problem. What part of the card sparked? What location? Top of pcb or under the pcb? From inside the cooler? From the back, etc? You should see a burn spot where it sparked. Take a picture and post it if you can.

this has started happening to me recently. bought my card brand new last december. sparked for the first time about a week ago, just did it again. both times i was playing gta 5, the card had been running 50%-(mainly)100% for a few hours on end, then would randomly shutoff. I would look at my computer and both times sparks came from what looked like the middle of the pcb of the card. it sits sideways in my 250d so i could tell the sparks were coming from my gpu. I never let the card get above 75c and i have it mildly overclocked using msi afterburner. With nvidias gpu boost 2.0 and afterburner's overclocking/voltage limits the card should be perfectly fine with the overclock i have set. I think it boosts to 1123, and i have +100 mhz set for mem. Anyway i remember seeing some threads about these cards catching fire or burning out so im going to contact msi today and hopefully they will help me settle this. I really dont want the card i spent 500$ on to burn out in a year..

I should also add that I had started hearing the card coil whine a month or two ago, and some people have had their capacitors burn out on this card. I'm definitely going to return it to stock clocks, and not push it too hard until i can get ahold of msi.

Here the same thing happened the same way until the GAME ( GTA V)

A month later my computer was standby when I came back to the my games room was again with burning smell

I would look at my computer and turn on and sparks 2 times came from what looked like the middle of the pcb of the card. it sits sideways in my 250d so i could tell the sparks were coming from my gpu. I never let the card get above 75c . Anyway i remember seeing some threads about these cards catching fire or burning out so im going to contact msi today and hopefully they will help me settle this. I really dont want the card i spent R$ 2500 reais in BRAZIL on to burn out in a year...
