can i use a ati video card with a Intel processor?

i have a Intel processor and want a ati video card..

You can yes. but the deciding factor is your motherboard. Make sure your motherboard can have an ATI card.

how would i find out if my motherboard is compatible with ati video card??

Its not about your motherboard being capatible with AMD or Nvidia. I'm not sure what Sungfighter meant.

What does matter is if you have the right expansion slot for the cards.

PCI, PCI-E, AGP, etc etc.

The other deciding factor is if you have a power supply capable of powering the card.
