Video driver failed to initialize

Windows 7 doesn't start anymore, not even in safe mode. After loading, it gives a blue screen with "video driver failed to initialize". GPU is Radeon 5850.

This started after using tune up registry defrag and restarting pc.

Not sure, but can't you do a system recovery from a previous safe point or something ? ( Don't know how it's called exactly in English, my OS is Dutch )

Like.... how? Only way I know how to do it is to start windows 7 first. But can't get into windows as it crashes.

F8 Repair your computer cannot find anything to restore with. I can't find my install disc but maybe it will help?

I was afraid of that. There is a way i think but i all have it in Dutch so i'll have to translate so i hope you understand ; remove all disks and stuff, if only one os is installed ; while booting press and hold F8, you should get advanced boot options (?) use arrows to click on system receovery. If it isn't there, there are no safe points for recovery i believe.
If you have an cd you can also do it from there.

Right, you were aware of that. Then the disc probably.

Yeah, thanks for trying. I was just hoping that there would be some simple answer/fix other than that. I guess it's time to tidy up the place and find the disc.

Maybe someone else knows, i'm no expert. Anyway, tidying up is never bad. ( only i hate it ) ( takes away precious gaming time )

The install disc repair options don't do anything since there are no restore points. It's the same as F8 one.

Startup repair doesn't help.


I wonder if there is a way to "repair install" or something. I got only one hard drive so full install probably wipes all files.
