Video Editing Build

I'm going to be building a new PC this year, primarily for video editing.
I've always watched friends design and build PCs, but have never done my own build. I'd consider myself pretty good with computers, but want to consult your guys' incredible knowledgebase before dropping $1000+

As for this thing's uses, I'll be primarily running Premiere CS6, After Effects CS6, as well as moderate usage of the rest of the CS6 suite, plus light uses of other randoms like Cinema 4D, Pro Tools, etc. Editing will mainly consist of Canon DSLR footage, but really a mixture of everything, from GoPro to RED.

What I have lined up right now is:

I'm pretty tired of waiting on laggy computers, so I'm ready to go hard, so let me know if something looks to be severely bottlenecking stuff. On the other hand, if something is just way too overkill for the system, I am still a student, so I'd also like to avoid throwing away money too haha.

The build looks great except i would get the ocz or intel ssd. make sure you install your software for adobe on the ssd because they run great on the ssd i currently do the same. also the video card i just recieved some great advice about video cards and i would recommend the evga gtx 670. otherwise it looks great good luck with the build.

ehhhhh i feel like the build he said was better than this one im not a fan of 90% of these parts. amd is good for a budget build but the build jessejester117 originally stated is better.

cheap build. you typically get what you pay for and if you cut corners you typically will pay for it down the road.

OP i like everything except that you are only getting 16 gb of ram instead of 32. ram is cheap get as much as possible if you think you might use it. also consider a bigger hdd. idk how much space you use but bigger drives arent that much more.

btw you arent running these programs on remote access software through your school are you?

Intel i7 3770k is better then the 8350 even in editing. Unless hes on a budget he should get the i7

yeah i use the 3770k and its awesome and its overclockable if you want that extra push. with my h80 my 3770k sits at 28 C stock

Yeah I was looking at overclocking it. Maybe not right out of the gate, as I imagine it'll already probably be pretty fast, but eventually yeah. Thus the watercooler.
As far as budget, I was hoping to stay around the $1500 mark--preferably less, but we all know how that goes.
I only had 16gb RAM on there right now for budget reasons, but was planning on getting more eventually. I opted for the 2x8 so I can just throw two more 8's on w/o tossing the olds. Do you think 16 will be able to handle it?
For the HD's I was kinda thinking of going the same route as the RAM: get more later. Potentially set up RAID down the road, as HD's can only get cheaper.
And no, I won't be running via remote access.
Should I stick with windows7 for the time being, or just go with 8 while it's cheap [aka before Jan 31st]

i run my adobe on 16 gig i give you my word you will be fine and i agree with you on ssd drives will only get cheaper. windows 8 is good but you have to run a lot in win 7 compatibility mode as admin. but over all i love windows 8 and yes windows 7 is more stable at the moment. bottom line you have a good build listed there and you will be fine running your adobe because my rig is very similar to that and im running great with awesome rendering. good luck bro order up.

my point with the hard drives was that you spend 85 for a 1 tb hard drive now or 140-150 for a 3tb drive now instead of spending over 200 over time for 3tb.

i was just wondering about remote access cause its weird for this mid range budget build to be built around a 2500 dollar software package....

The main reason I wasn't considering getting one huge HD is because I was planning on eventually running RAID, and in that circumstance would probably use a bunch of 1TBs..
In regards to CS6, Adobe Creative Cloud is only $30/month for students, for the whole production suite.
