Hello,
I read the 2008 and 2006 and 2007 sugestions on a motherbard and cpu for a video editing computer. My question is the same but for the cpu,s of today (i3,i5,i7) or what ever will be in the budget of 398.00.

Thanks

Dave

Look for an i5 or i7 combo deal at frys. The 1366 920 is $199. at microcenter, but like frys, it's in store only. Newegg will sometimes discount $20-30 on their combo deals. Newegg has an asus P7P55 pro with i5 750 for $349, or 2 biostar boards with the 860 for a few dollars more.

Looking at all the google info out their I have seen that I would be going towrds the i5 and i7, on the hyperthreading note I havnt seen any software that says it utalisez the HT. With the new I7s will the hardware force programs to use it instead?

PowerProducer is 5, PowerDirector is 8

Most Cyberlink software is multi-core aware so I'd go with a quad core. Hyperthreading can make a difference (look at the i7 980X article posted on Tom's today about 6 cores vs 12 threads) but if you're on a tight budget you can get away with not having it.

I'm leaning towards the Core i5-750 with an Asus P7P55D motherboard or a Core i7 930 with an Asus P6TD Delxue motherboard
