Approximate Purchase Date: February 2013 (after tax return )
Budget Range: $1k-$5k (like to be around $3,000 but right now I'm pretty flexible)
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Professional Video Editing (MAYBE gaming - unless it bogs the computer down during "work")
Parts Not Required: N/A I NEED EVERYTHING
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, but I'm open here as well - newegg is really just the only website I know about

Parts Preferences: intel's i7, ASUS motherboard, nvidia video card(s) - but not firm
Overclocking: Sure, if it helps and doesn't harm the computer in the long run.

I did check some of those articles out, they seem like they aren't necessaraly something people would recommend, but rather some sort of experiment of different hardware that should do well, but maybe doesn't always.

This is amazing! Why do people buy Macs? Also, do you need a separate card for firewire? (that is a high transfer rate thing right?)

IEEE 1394a is FireWire so that board has 1 built in, aren't real world speeds between that usb3/sata3 kinda similar tho?

Yes it has 1 Firewire port. If you need more Firewire cards can be found for as cheap as $20:

You might want to spend some more on a RE4 Drive instead of Caviar Black for your storage drive. They are meant for enterprise storage, so they are more reliable as well as being fast. And when you need more space you can get another drive and RAID them. Here is a link:
