System Usage from Most to Least Important: CAD, some journalism editing(girlfriend, dont know what this exactly implies), Simulations(this is less important, do most of this at the lab)

Parts Not Required: OS or any software, Monitors, Keyboard, Sound card, Mouse, I have an old raid controller, but from what I've been told, SSD's seem to outdo raid0 setups now.

Overclocking: Yes(If needed)

SLI or Crossfire: Don't know. Would prefer a Quadro card, but I am not very experienced in this area.

Additional Comments: This will be mainly an at home work computer. Will be using CAD, and some simulation. Budget can extend up to 5000 if needed. Preferably will last 8 years+. I was going to buy a set up on Dell, but I have not had good experiences with dell in the past, and have the free time to build one myself. I'm a bit of a fossil when it comes to hardware now, so I greatly appreciate any explanations with choices of parts.
As a side note, a close friend is going to build be a phase changer cooling system.

LOOOL thats impossible, technology is moving waaaay too fast nowdays, anyway, i recomend you to check my signature builds, speacially the ~2500 one.

Dude, he said he was gonna do rendering and use 6x monitors, a GTX 670 is not for that, he needs 7xxx cards or a high end Tesla/Quadro card.

Hello! i went here http://www.nvidia.com/object/after-effects-cs6.html and i think a Quadro 5000 will be best for you, but because you are not using CS6 i suggest you get a 7970 Crossfire because of the incredibly HUGE computing power that card has, however, i am not sure if the aplications you use will benefit from Crossfire, i advise you to buy THIS rig and try your apps with and without Crossfire enabled, and depending on the performance diference you can make the decision of returning or keeping the second card

btw... most people will advise you to stay away from closed loop watercoolers like the H100 but i say you get it, why? because you need a lot of FAST ram, and FAST ram comes with tall heatskins and most cpu coolers will block the spaced needed for them to be installed, the H100 doesnt have this problem and it will give you teps 3-4°C lower than the highest end air cooler, and if you replace the stock fans with quality ones you might get even lower temps
