Video Editing: SSD vs HDD for Cache

While doing some research on optimal hard drive setups for video editing, I have noticed that many experts recommend using an SSD for cache.

Also, in this article, Harm states that SSDs perform better, but he prefers 2 HDDs over a single SSD.

My question is, how significant of a performance increase will I see with using an SSD instead of a 7200 USB 3.0 HD for media cache?

I have been searching for a while now for an answer and I could not find one.

I use Sony Vegas and stick the app on the SSD and the data folders/cache on a raid-1 hdd.

SSD will kick USB3 hdd backside on data access.
