What components matter the most when it comes to video editing? And what would be a decent example?

Start with the software you wanna use, the sort of video editing you want to do and work from there.

CPU is most importand for rendering. A decent GPU is also recommended to not get choppy preview at decent quality and atleast 4GB of ram. I recommend Xeon X3323 E5 series or any i3/i5.

Currently all major companies like Sony, Adobe, Grassvally use the CPU to do the final rendering. The video card is used to speed up preview when you are working with 4k video and have effects on.

So in Short, the more RAM and the more Cores, the faster it will render. Now this isn't 100% true across the board since AMD is in its own world. like and example AMD 8Core cpus are slower than an intel i5 with 4 cores. But you get the general idea.
