So I have just started recording my gaming and such and have ran into some lag on some indie games, and some new games. I ran run The WarZ, Guild Wars 2, and Others perfectly when recording. Yet when I play other games I drop from around 70 FPS to around 10FPS. Even when I get higher FPS I still get lag non stop. What can i do to fix this. Here is an example of the horrible lag. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTNZmdvFFg8&feature=g-crec-u

I am currently using FRAPS
Here are my PC specs.
Intel core i5-3570K
EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW
8 GB 1600 RAM

Anything else ask and I will answer hopefully this can be fixed easily.

Solution
Your framerate will drop but if its extreme and consistently lagging I would suggest your Harddrive isn't up to the task. Either buy a new harddrive or get a separate one to record on.

this is not a provlem of your specs or your rig..
This happens to everyone while he/she uses fraps..so don't panic.
If you record at a high quality using fraps, then the frame rate is bound to drop..
But if you record at the lowest quality, then there wont be much fps drop but still a drop in fps is inevitable.....
Check any gaming video on youtube and read its description..

It's always like..
40-50 without fraps recording
20-24 with fraps( just an example)...

Dont worry..coz what u r experiencing is perfectly normal...!!

Yeah but it is dropping around 60FPS every time I record. You exampled around 20 FPS drop though I am getting three times that.

Do you know of any good hard drives that would be good for recording specific?

Fraps uses an uncompressed format and therefore writes a lot of data to your drive. If your drive is the bottleneck, then perhaps try a program such as Bandicam which writes much less data to your drive because it encodes the video. A video recorded with Fraps that's around 3 GiB could be as low as 278 MiB with Bandicam!!

Use bandicam to record your games your fps will drop only to 3-4 fps and its video size much smaller than fraps!! also if you experience lag while recording or lag in the recorded video its due to your hard drive . To record at 720p your hard drive should be fast enough .. if its slow video will lag!!
