I'm trying to figure out what exactly happened/was wrong with my friends graphics card (a gtx 660) before he RMA's it.
I'm not deep into the know-how when it comes to graphics cards, but i'm pretty sure the video memory was borked. His computer started producing red lines on the screen and having weird artifacts everywhere.
The card causes major problems in a computer if its plugged in, sometimes not even wanting to boot. I had to jump through a bunch of hoops and uninstall my graphics card drivers just to get my computer to boot while the card was plugged in.
The VMT program would only run if it was booted directly into too.
The errors that it was finding was along the lines of (00xxxxxx) must be 00 but found FF (x being random numbers/letters). It up to like 700k errors, all of them being this error, before I stopped the test.
I'm pretty sure the card is beyond help and I'm just wondering with that error is it possible to pinpoint what exactly went wrong with the card?
