Windowx XP w/SP2. The OS does not seam to recognize a video adapter. Does
not matter which one (tried 3 different). It installs the native VGA driver,
not as a display adapter but rather an unknown device. Do not have any bugs
etc that I know of (use NAV Internet Security 2005, but ran other scans just
in case). MB is a GigaByte 7Vt600 1394. Tried ATI, nVidia and a old Jaton
(trident) card. All memory and video memory tested good w/ Gold's Test.

Idea's??????

Thanks,
Jeff

Have you tried the drivers from the Manufacturer's website

ATI

nVidia

Jaton

Is this a new problem on a new system? Old system, new problem?
Specifics would help as to what was done and why.

Is this AGP card - BIOS settings correct?

Have trtied latest manufactors drivers. BIOS is updated, chipset drivers are
updated. New system, new install. Will not even put generic vga driver as
a display device.

New problem on a fairly new system (XP 3200+, gigabyte 7vt600 1394 512
DDR3200, SATA 160G HD, Linksys Wireless USB adapter, ATI Radeon ALL-WONDER-
PRO 9600 (AGP), tried nVidia GX 5200 (AGP) and old Jaton (PCI) as well. BIOS
and CHipset drivers were updated after problem started.

Personally I would do a fresh install, careful of any custom settings you
do with the install of XP. Download updated drivers for your video card and
SP2 prior if you need them( burn to cd-r) That way these updates can be
done without connecting to the internet without risk of viruses etc. and any
interference with install from AV programs. (ATI recommends removal of AV
from system before install / updates - from tech support)

Note: Before switching video cards in a machine ensure that the previous
cards software and drivers are completely removed prior to install of new
card.

Ensure your motherboard and video card are compatible prior to install.

If the above does not work then maybe you have a hardware issue with
mainboard - unlikely if both pci and AGP cards don't work.

BTW I meant that "are your BIOS settings correct for the type of video card
installed?" not that the BIOS was updated (latest BIOS updates and chipset
drivers are of course a good idea as well).
