Video Recording Software

Hello everyone. Me and my friend have setup a YouTube channel and need some way of recording. I already have a great audio setup as I am a radio presenter.

I need a free video recorder that records at a good 720p with low file sizes. I've tried Fraps but even with low settings, it's about 5gb for about 2 minuets. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
