Such outrage! LOL

The AMD fanbois would be screaming murder if it was the other way around.

Let's try this then , compare the new GTX 1060 with GDDR5X 6gb with a RX 580 4GB and all the AMD fanboi's would be having a meltdown.
This comparison is the same as what this article has done, lets pull out our latest card the RX590 8GB and compare it to the lowest model GTX 1060 3 GB to claim a victory , it's hilarious they stooped so low.

You're right in regard to AMD partisans, but off-base on the rest. To go point-by-point:

1) A 1060 GDDR5X vs. 580 4GB test could absolutely be worth seeing. The 580 -- both 4GB and 8GB versions -- is right on par with the vanilla 1060 6GB. But there would also absolutely be Team Red drones crying foul. Nature of the choose-a-side beast.

2) The comparison you describe is NOT the one the article is making. Heck, the 590 isn't even announced yet. As has been stated multiple times in the comments, the video in question compares the 580 2048, which is merely a 570 with an extra clock boost, with the 1060 3GB. Beyond occupying the same market segment, the results show them to be comparable performance-wise. So what's the problem here?

What are you smoking, you're completely out of the loop. The 1060 3GB is not a 1060 (6GB) with 3 less gigs of ram. It's a different card with 10% less cuda cores as well as 3gb less ram. It shouldn't even be called a 1060.

The RX580 2048SP is also not an RX580. It's an RX580 with 11% less cores. But at least this version is only designed for the Chinese market, unlike the 1060 3gb.

That said, they were compared favorably in price, which AMD fanboys have no problem with. Except during the mining craze when AMD cards were more heavily inflated in price due to their superior mining abilities. But under normal circumstances, no one can really quibble or throw a tantrum is 1 card offers better performance at the same price.

The FTW card is obsolete as I said. Current version which you linked to is an FTW+, and it's still much more expensive than the card the article is talking about. I don't think you realize that the Chinese-market-only "580" 2048 is really just a 570 with a slight clock bump. Thus it is more comparable to the absolute dirt cheapest 3GB 1060 models (and still probably undercuts them in cost since it's again basically a 570).

If you want to compare fancy versions that cost more, then you need to look at a similarly priced AMD card. Like a real 580.
