im looking for a program that will, like Movie Maker, make transitions
in my photo slideshow according to the beat of the background music,
and can also, like MemoriesOnTV or others, use the Ken Burns effect to
pan and zoom the pictures as well. Also, output is needed to a video
file such as avi/mov/mpg/wmv. I havent been able to find the right
program...any help would be appreciated...

actually the transitions need not be according to beat as long as there
is some sort of visual effect of the beat on the pictures.

This is Movie Maker forum so here is the info how you can to do it in Movie
maker.

If the beat is repeating at a constant time interval (most do) then you can
identify that duration and use it as the default picture duration. See my
tips section: www.rehanfx.org/tips.htm

I have also made a pan zoom plugin for Movie Maker which you can download
from my site.
www.rehanfx.org/panzoom.htm

Hope it helps.

Sorry this is not Movie Maker forum after all :) but anyway the advice
stands...

Perhaps it needs to be added that: Microsoft PhotoStory can also be used to
produce pan and zoom effects and produces better results than movie maker.
However the exact picture duration control is restricted to one tenth of a
second (for no apparent reason).

Previously I have used and was impressed by the ProShow Gold by Photdex
