VIDEO: Why Half-Life Doesn't Need Hollywood

hollywood needs writers that actually know how to write a script, and not have hundreds of Steven Spielberg jack-offs, that know nothing better than to create a story line/ending that's already visible after 10 minutes in the movie!

Yeah, I wish they would make a serious(Sam 😀) movie, but I'm afraid they would just tarnish the name: Freeman.
There were rumors about an MK movie also, and except for a few clips nothing else was heard of.
Disappointment.

Someone is Hollywood needs to hire the people that made this... and makes good movies that people will go see instead of this crap they shovel out these days and the remake bulls*it the give us over and over again i mean really just have an original idea

you guys actually liked this movie ? i find it a total crap .. bad acting and bad video effects ... they should let some serious movie producers make a movie about this not randoms.

This is most certainly unaware to you guys, but Half-life is based on a book, called The Myst, wich has already been adpated to a movie, and its f$@#$# awesome!!! Its with that guy that plays Two-Face Aaron eckhart, hope thats spelled right.

Check it out

While the creators of Half-Life may have heavily taken their "creatures from another dimension" queue from "The Mist", the premise of the story is completely different. I know you know this, but it had to be said :)

As for this trailer, I am completely speechless.... 😀

I WANT THIS IS A FULL MOVIE NOW!!!

Maybe the writers and directors for this movie can do a proper Max Payne movie? We could only hope.

For anyone interested, here are two links. One is a fan made short film called "Max Payne: Hero" and the second is for an independent film called "Max Payne: Payne & Redemption"

Check out: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001173/ Aaron Eckhart was never in a movie called "The Myst". However, according to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0884328/ you may be referring to Thomas Jane. All that aside, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mist states that valve said it was the "primary influence" for the game, not that the game was completely based on the book. With that being said, I would like to see a Half-Life live action movie.

For those who haven't seen it, go watch "Escape from City 17". I want to see something like that.

I agree that a halflife movie needs to get made. I would actually prefer to see a Diablo movie. They have so much material to draw from including the Sin War, the discovery of Sanctuary, the chases through the desert (I would love to see the scene where they bind Tal Rasha to the stone.), etc. It could be a great movie.

Lets not forget however that video game movies suck for a reason. Games are great because YOU get to do things. Why do you think Gordon Freeman doesn't talk? Or see Master Chief's face? When you watch a video game movie YOU aren't doing it anymore. The best video game movies I've seen have to be the Resident Evil movies and perhaps Doom. (they BUTCHERED the Doom story, but it was still a great action flick.) Pure action movies would be fine, pure action movies that follow the story of the game might be good but we've never seen one.

Uh.. I could write I better article than this:

Why Half Life doesn't need Hollywood:

Cause Hollywood will most likely pick dumbasses to write scripts for a legendary franchise.

It's as if producers, directors, story writers and screenplay writers have absolutely no idea what a gaming console does, and has no desire to do the proper research so that the resulting film is just as genuine as the source material.

I see what you did there...

I was...a little uninspired. Setting, atmosphere seemed likely but music was a bit much. Seeing Freeman's face head on also too much. Improvisation is not bad, just Hollywood is bad at it btw.
