Hey guys,

So I have an EVGA Geforce GTX 960 SSC, and when I plug my monitor into it, it shows the Asus loading page (I have an Asus mobo) and then the screen freezes, goes black, and an error pops up saying "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collectimg some error info and then we'll restart for you." It also says to search Video_Tdr_Failure to learn more about the problem. If I use my Intel HD Graphics from the CPU it boots fine and is the only way that I can use the PC, but I can't game with it. I'm guessing that it is a problem with the gpu time responding with the monitor because it says it is a Timeout Detection Recover problem, so would changing the Tdr delay in the registry editor fix anything? Currently, I don't have the file set up in the registry. Is this a faulty card or an OS problem?

Please help! Thanks!

I also cannot access the Nvidia control panel because I am using the integrated graphics.

Acer GN246HL Bbid 24-Inch 3D Gaming Display (144Hz Refresh Rate) running at 1920 by 1080 and yes it does work in safe mode
Specs are:
i5 6400 (Skylake)
Gtx 960 SSC
500b PSU
8 GB DDR4 RAM
1 TB 7200 RPM Toshiba HDD

May I ask if your monitor runs at 144Hz what video cable are you using from the monitor to the GTX 960 card.

The TDR error is happening because the monitor native is running at 144Mhz.

And the type of cable or the way you have the cable connected to the monitor from the GTX 960 card is causing your problem.

Basically when you want to use the 144hz mode of the monitor you have to use a dual link Dvi-D wired cable from the GTX 960 card to the monitor.

A normal Dvi-D cable can only carry a maximum of 72hz Dual link is double = 144hz clock sync.

Or use the OSD of the monitor setup and set a manual of 60hz or a clock rate less than 144Hz, id using a single link Dvi-D cable or Hdmi connection.

If you don`t have the cable in question a Dual link Dvi-D cable then you will have to get one or use the display port output of the card.

The error message is basically saying it cannot find a clock sync between the card and the display due to the cable used and what the monitor is set or selected to in working Hz range and after a set time of trying to sync and handshake from the card to the monitor the operation is terminating.

The go to the setup and OSD options menu of the monitor.
You should be able to set, and store the default Hz setting from 60hz to 144Hz. as an option.

Then you need to know if you have to install a monitor profile in windows for the monitor.

A driver basically. It will tell you this in the manual if you look.
Have you read the manual that came with the monitor ?

It's only showing 59 hertz and 60 hertz. When I used the gpu before it would allow me to change it to 144 hertz.

Should I try using an hdmi to connect the gpu to monitor. I only have a basic hdmi cable so it would only allow up to 60 hertz.

So I checked and my motherboard has a single link DVI connector and my GPU has a dual link which is why I can't get to 144 hertz right now.
