Viewsonic Monitor control buttons not working

I can access the onscreen display (OSD) with the button '1', but I can't move the selection up or down or select the option. How can I get the other buttons to work? The up and down buttons do work as when holding them, I can lock the power button and the OSD. However when I open the OSD with the button 1, I can't do anything else. I am using a Viewsonic VX2453mh-LED.

You may not be using the buttons properly, although you haven't made it clear whether they've stopped working or you just don't know the correct procedure. Assuming it's the latter, download the manual from here:

The buttons seem to work when the OSD is not displayed, however when the OSD is open, the buttons stop working so I can do nothing.
