Viewsonic PF790 or Samsung 900NF???

I'm looking for a 19" monitor, and have narrowed it down to the Viewsonic PF790 and the Samsung 900NF. Both monitors look great, and are about the same price. I think the samsung supports slightly higher resolutions though. Which one is better?

The 900NF is better in my personal opinion. Have you looked at the NEC FE950? That is a good monitor also.

I just purchased the PF790 myself about 3 weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it. Check out functors thread a little ways down. There are many to choose from and just as many opinions!! I keep mine set at 1024x768 @ 85Hz . Very sharp text and excellent colors when playing games.(I have it hooked up to the Prophet DDR.)Very easy set-up and clear controls. The $50.00 rebate through BestBuy certainly helped also. I'm sure you wouldn't go wrong with either one. DSandman

I have a SAMSUNG 900NF. I have mixed feelings about it.
It looks fantastic in 1280X1024 at 100 hz. When you go to 1600X1200 it gets a contrast problem. white turns greyish. does not matter if I use 60 or 89 hz, same.
My old DELL 19inch from 1998 is better sorry to say (even though it is a very good one)
conclusion is above 1280 = not perfect.

I've been using the PF790 for the last year and I've been very happy with it. It's very clear and the color is great! I always use it at 1600x1200 resolution, I have good eyes.

I've never used the Samsung 900NF, but I'm thinking about getting the Samsung 1200NF 22".

Stay away from Samsung and get a Viewsonic PF 790. I love mine

ah....use whatever yo decided, but I know that Samsung 950p is #1 in pcworld chart of best monitors and 900NF is #2, I have 955df and it's not tested by pcworld yet, though I know for SURE that 955df monitor is a flattened version of 950p (I didn't believe that cuz I thought that 950 was AG, but it's shadow mask!). If you want an AWESOME monitor then go for Sony G420 and I think the best monitor in the world is Sony 21inch F520, 0.22pitch, 2048x1538@75hz and flat, best image quality ever, and CHEAP! ONLY $1500 if RETAIL!!!
